June 6, 1993 celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony. Three of the charter members did the honors: Elenora Real, Laura Grimes, and Stanley Green. The foundation was started in July. The cement slab for the Sanctuary was poured on November 1. The sides of the church began to emerge after that. By December 14 the trusses were brought in and the roof was on its way. In February 1994 the metal roof was in progress. Next came the inside walls and the siding.
Services were being planned in the new building to begin by June 30th. On Palm Sunday, members brought warm clothes and their own chairs and held a service in the unfinished building (March 27, 1994). Fortunately God blessed the service with nice weather. By this time, donations of all kinds poured in to furnish the church and provide for a workable church.
August 3, 1994 the church office was moved from Harwood Avenue to its new home in the church building. Regular worship services began on August 7, 1994 with lawn chairs instead of pews. The church was dedicated on October 2, 1994. The twentieth anniversary of the church was celebrated on November 16, 1997. The Reverend Dean Knapp served another four years as pastor until 1998.
Then after a year of mission study under the direction of Interim Pastor Rebecca Hazen, the church formed a Pastor Search Committee and began looking for a new pastor. By the spring of 2000 it was decided to call the Reverend Cheryl A. Bourne to serve as pastor. She began leading worship on June 25, 2000 and was installed on July 30, 2000. The Reverend Cheryl A. Bourne continues to serve as pastor of Prineville Presbyterian Church to this day.
