The church celebrated its tenth anniversary on November 15, 1987 with a potluck luncheon. They were still holding services in the SDA church building. The church office was located in a rented space on Harwood Avenue. Several years later, members of the church decided it was time to start looking to build their own church. Creative fundraisers were done to raise money for the purchase of land and building materials. This included yard sales and the sale of Christmas wreaths and swags.
In 1991 the Bicentennial of the Presbyterian Church (USA) sought to raise money to help churches that were in need of financial help. Prineville United Presbyterian Church applied for $40,000 to purchase land for the church. The $40,000 grant was received and led Prineville Presbyterian members to begin looking for the perfect location for the church. Of three choices, the one in which the church currently stands was decided upon.
In January 1992, the out buildings on the land were torn down. In June of that year, the volunteer firefighters used the remaining house on the land to practice fighting house fires. Church members worked long and hard to clean up and get the land ready to be built upon.
In April 1993 the entrance to Madras Highway was done by filling it with dirt and rocks. In May, the land was surveyed for proper placement of the church building. Under the direction of Rev. Knapp and the session, the building plans were under way. George McCart was hired as the architect. Members of the congregation helped build and put the church building together with their own time and labor (Click to Continue).
