HISTORY
The very first Presbyterian church in Prineville was built near the courthouse in Prineville in 1904. First Presbyterian Church was located on the corner of East Third and Elm Streets. This photo of the church was taken in 1910. By the late 1940’s the church was ready to close its doors and was demolished in a fire around 1950. The building was given to the fire department to be used as a practice drill for local fire fighters. Members of First Presbyterian Church as well as members of the local Methodist church united to form the Community Church.
Twenty-seven years later, some local Presbyterians were ready to start a new Presbyterian church. This began the process of the church we now claim as Prineville Presbyterian Church.
